In-Person Writing Workshop Facilitators

Are you passionate about promoting literacy among children and youth? We are looking for facilitators to deliver our Write It Workshops for children aged 8-14 years at Brampton Public Libraries at:

  • Brampton Public Library - Mount Pleasant Village Branch
  • Address: 100 Commuter Drive, Brampton
  • Date: Saturday, October 17 and 24, 2026
  • Time: 10:30am-11:30am

What you'll be doing:

  • Deliver the Write It Workshop Series to grades 4-8 students.
  • Work with other volunteers during the delivery of the workshop.
  • Attend an online training session with other volunteers.
  • Collect feedback and comments from participants to be used for social media sharing.
  • Provide feedback to the workshop manager.

What we're looking for:

  • A Vulnerable Sector Check is required from the local police.
  • Excellent communication skills that are effective with children.
  • Engaging and positive interactions with children that maintain their attention.
  • Patience working with students of diverse backgrounds and levels of understanding.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with organization co-ordinators and other peers.
  • Teaching experience is an asset.

Volunteer Commitment: You will be required to attend an online training to learn the workshop materials. You’ll need to arrive half an hour before the start of the workshop to set up and meet the other volunteers you’ll be working with.

Copy Editor

The team at Ripple Foundation is looking for a copy editor for Wave Blog. Wave Blog is a weekly online publication for students in grades 8-12 to write about their opinions and experiences on various topics that matter to them. New blog posts are published weekly. This team member will work with editorial assistance and the chief editor. You will be responsible for proofreading blog posts submitted by students in grades 8-12.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Proofread text for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors
  • Check for voice, tone and style for the target audience
  • Provide comments and feedback to improve clarity and readability

What we’re looking for:

  • Editorial background with copy editing skills in media or publishing industry
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail – able to catch the smallest errors
  • Good judgment on ethics to deem appropriate content
  • Organize and good time management skills
