Public Relations Coordinator

Are you a communicator interested in volunteering for a young and energetic foundation? Where you’ll enjoy flexibility in setting your own schedule and freedom to contribute your ideas?

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support with the creation of content in line with the PR strategy and activity calendar (press releases, pitches, media alerts)
  • Conducting media outreach and research
  • Monitoring media for mentions, logging coverage and sharing all coverage with social media tram
  • Flagging media contacts to social media team that have social presence so we may follow them and engage with their social content
  • Monitoring and flagging potential coverage or pitching opportunities to the PR Lead
  • Supporting the PR Lead with building communications plans and strategies as necessary

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong media and influencer relations skills and established contacts with social influencers and mainstream news media; particularly with education and consumer lifestyle contacts
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; providing a sample of your work would be an asset
  • Proven success in earned media placements nationally (Canada-wide) and locally
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity and positive attitude; ability to work well as a team
  • Ability to multi-task, be self-motivated, determine priorities and work to deadlines
  • 2+ years of communications experience; current or previous PR agency experience is preferred but not required

Grant Researcher/ Writer

Embark on a rewarding journey with Ripple Foundation, an 100% volunteer-run Canadian educational charity dedicated to youth literacy. We are excited to seek a dynamic, enterprising, and adept Grant Researcher/Writer to join our dynamic team. This role offers the unique opportunity to combine your writing flair and drive for societal impact. You will collaborate with our Director of Partnerships, creating persuasive grant proposals to secure funding for Ripple's transformative community programs.

 

As our Grant Researcher/Writer, you will be entrusted with the following:

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting rigorous research to identify potential funding opportunities from diverse sources, including corporate, family, and charitable foundation grants.
  • Crafting and editing persuasive grant proposals that align with the objectives of grant-making organizations.
  • Establishing and managing a comprehensive funding opportunity database.
  • Preparing and collating necessary documentation for grant applications, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations.
  • Developing and maintaining professional relationships with grant contacts and program officers.
  • Managing a submission calendar to ensure all letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports are submitted in a timely manner.

What we’re looking for:

  • Excellent writing, analytical and research skills are essential.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure, synthesize information, and communicate compellingly and succinctly.
  • Proven proficiency in professional writing experience.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Are you a creative person that loves to write? We are looking for students in grades 8-12 to share their opinions and experiences on various topics that matter to youth through engaging and authentic blog posts for Wave Blog.

 

As a Wave Blogger, your role and responsibility are to:

  • Write blog posts that are personal and authentic, reflecting your opinions and experience, but relevant to other students as well
  • Create original content in liaison with our editorial team
  • Write and edit concisely for clarity and accuracy
  • Share the blog using your own personal social media accounts
  • Suggest keywords for your post

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • You are insightful, creative, and love to inspire others
  • You possess excellent communication and written English skills, including grammar and spelling
  • You pay attention to detail
  • You have exceptional organizational skills
  • You can commit to deadlines

Posts on our blog must fit one of the following categories:

  • Books: Book reviews or recommendations
  • Creative Writing: Blog posts that have to do with creative writing, whether it’s tips or inspirational
  • FlashbackAn experience or personal life event that made an impact on you
  • Fresh: A new and different perspective when looking at any given topic
  • View: Reflections on your personal points of view, opinion, and experiences

You can earn up to 5 volunteer hours per blog – this includes the writing deadline and any required revisions while working with our publisher and editor to finalize your piece. Ripple Foundation reserves the right not to publish any content that does not meet its required criteria.
