About the Author

My name is Safaa Ali and I am 9 years old. I live in the city of Toronto. This story started as a class assignment on pourquoi tales. At first, I thought of writing about a natural phenomenon such as thunder or lightning but finally was inspired to write a tale about a peacock because of two beautiful peacock feathers that someone had once given me. I love writing and reading a lot. I like to write poetry, stories, and plays. In my free time, I also like to draw and sew. In the future, I see myself as an artist, a writer, or a scientist – the possibilities are endless.

About the Illustrator

Ivy Wong founded Ripple Foundation. She launched Kids Write 4 Kids creative challenge in 2012 as a not-for-profit initiative. Drawing on her design skills and creativity, she illustrated and designed each book cover during the program’s early years. As Kids Write 4 Kids established its presence, Ivy sought out talented illustrators who shared her mission. These artists generously donated their time, collaborating with her to bring a fresh perspective to the artistic aspects of the project.

Today, Ivy works with talented illustrators to design each book covers. Their collective effort ensures that the book covers remain visually appealing and accurate to the Ripple Foundation’s philanthropic mission.
