Ripple Foundation is a Canadian charitable organization that fosters and cultivates reading and writing in youth across Canada. Ripple creates and delivers community programs for children and youth nationwide to improve their reading and writing skills while harvesting creativity, a deeper literary understanding, and confidence.

All our jobs are virtual. No traveling is required.

Wave Blog Contributor

Are you a creative person that loves to write? We are looking for students in grades 8-12 to share their opinions and experiences on various topics that matter to youth through engaging and authentic blog posts.

As a Wave Blogger, your role and responsibility are to:

  • Write blog posts that are personal and authentic, reflecting your opinions and experience, but relevant to other students as well
  • Create original content in liaison with our publisher and editor
  • Write and edit concisely for clarity and accuracy
  • Share the blog using your own personal social media accounts
  • Suggest keywords for your post

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • You are insightful, creative, and love to inspire others
  • You possess excellent communication and written English skills, including grammar and spelling
  • You pay attention to detail
  • You have exceptional organizational skills
  • You can commit to deadlines

Posts on our blog must fit one of the following categories:

  • Books: Book reviews or recommendations
  • Creative Writing: Blog posts that have to do with creative writing, whether it’s tips or inspirational
  • Flashback: An experience or personal life event that made an impact on you
  • Fresh: A new and different perspective when looking at any given topic
  • Kids Write 4 Kids: Any topic that is related to the Kids Write 4 Kids contest
  • View: Reflections on your personal points of view, opinion, and experiences

You can earn up to 5 volunteer hours per blog – this includes the writing deadline and any required revisions while working with our publisher and editor to finalize your piece.

Assistant Virtual Writing Workshop Facilitator

Love literature? Interested in working with students in grades 4-8? Volunteer as an Assistant Writing Workshop Facilitator, and you can help improve children’s writing skills through fun and interactive activities that inspire author voice and choice.

As an assistant writing workshop facilitator, your role and responsibility are to:

  • Deliver the Write It Workshops to children aged 8-14 years via Zoom
  • Work with other volunteers during the delivery of the workshop
  • Attend an online training session with other volunteers
  • Collect feedback and comments from participants to be used for social media sharing
  • Provide feedback to the workshop manager

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • A Vulnerable Sector Check is required from the local police
  • You possess excellent communication skills (English)
  • Patience working with kids of diverse backgrounds and levels of understanding
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with organization co-ordinators and other peers
  • You are interested in teaching
  • You are reliable and responsible
  • Experience with Zoom is an asset

You will earn 5 volunteer hours per 3 consecutive workshops in a month. Each workshop is 1 hour in length and takes place on a Saturday afternoon that starts at either 1 pm or 2 pm. All lesson plans and workshop activities are provided. Your time commitment is to participate in the initial online training sessions and familiarizing yourself with all the lesson plans and workshop activities.
